'04 M3 mirror concern

I noticed on the new 2004 M3 they don't have the sport rear view mirror such as the 2001-2003 do. I wonder why they changed it.

I believe they are rectangular because of the integrated Homelink system.

the sport mirror looks so much better...gives it a distinguished look. juss like the 2000-2003 M5.

odd they'd change the design just to incorporate another component. i wouldn't imagine BMW would have any issue cramming anything into any sleek, sexy design.

I think it's great that they changed the mirror to the regular one to accomodate the HomeLink system...I think it is a must. Although maybe for the M3 Convertible, they should have kept the sport mirror...

This is a little silly on the part of BMW, because the '03 HomeLink system is a dealer-installed option that goes into the little over-head compartment that houses the phone mic and moon roof switch. The '03 homelink system places 3 new buttons in that area which (IMOH) make that part of the roof look cool. All this without losing the oval mirror.

It is for BMW Assist... If you order your car with out BMW Assist, you will get the oval mirror.

I ordered my 2004 M3 without BMW Assist. The car came with an oval rearview mirror and no sharkfin.
