2006 530i -----I am getting a reflection in my drivers side rear view mirror from the green light on the headlight switch (when in the far left auto position) when driving at night. Is anyone else experienced this problem. The BMW engineers need to fix this. The only way to get rid of the reflection is to turn the light headlight switch to the far right, then you have to remember to turn them back to the auto position.

I have tried different seat adjustments and rear view mirror adjustments but the reflection is still there. There is only so much that can be moved and still have it safe for me to use the drivers side rear view mirror.

I was even thinking about putting a little black paint on the green light to stop the reflection.......shouldn't have to do that for a $50,000 car.

I should have driven the car at night before I bought it.

Before the "auto" feature that is what we all had to do. I have to remember to turn my headlamps on and off on my truck whenever I use it. I mean it is really not that difficult. Would you really not have bought the car if you had driven it at night and seen that reflection? [:)]

Just poking at you, welcome to the board and I hope we can find a fix for you! [poke]

Maybe play with the seat position some, up and down. I know in my 545, I don't have this issue. Clearly it depends on your height, where the seat is set and how the mirrors are adjusted, but maybe some experimenting with different positions will resolve it. Good luck!

I have tried moving the seat and moving the angle of the mirror so I can still be comfortable driving and be able to see thur the mirror with no luck.

I was thinking about painting the green light with some black paint.

It is hard to believe the BMW engineers could not designed the location of the green light in a location that would not reflect not matter what position the seat or mirrow was in.

This is my first BMW, I have had the car a month and this is not the only problem I have had. They had to replace my SOS unit the day I picked up the car and didn't program it right so I had to take it back again. The dealership (Cooper of Oklahoma City) did not ask if I wanted daytime running lights, so I had to take it back again so they could program them ( at first they said I could program them). I live 120 miles from the dealership. I am not impressed, this will be my last BMW.

Been thinking about this. Looked at my 545 this weekend and I just can't see how the green light from the headlight dial, which is down by my left knee can be reflected in the outside mirror. If I'm not careful, I can literally push the knob into the dash with my knee. Have you tinted the windows with something that is causing a reflection? I have heard of a lot of issue with the E60, but this is the first I've ever heard of this one.

I have not tinted the windows....in fact the dealer had the guts to suggest that I tint the windows to solve the problem. You cannot see the reflection when the window is down so it has somthing to do with the drivers side window.......the black tape is still working.

BMW Customer Support has been no help...they say contact the dealer.

Oh, so the problem is the window and not the mirror. Hum, can't help there, my windows are tinted and I don't have a reflection issue. Good luck and I am not surprised that BMW Customer Support has not been any help, they never really are...

The best way to check the problem, look true the window to a point, then move your had,and keep your eye on the same spot. If you see something like "wather" movment, you have to tell them to change that glass.Sometimes this problem is from the glass, and BMW should help with no question ask.Good Luck

It is coming from the drivers side window glass, when I roll the window down it goes away but manifests itself as I look into the drivers side rear view mirror. Achtung (the reply before yours) gave me a suggest that I will try.
