Took my 06 530i to the dealer for a problem with an I-Drive warning that says " High battery drain".

It usually happens the first start of the day, but not every day. With the key in the ignition in position 2 but the engine not yet started. Becasue I start the car in my garage the head lights come on and if I have used the A/C is also comes on. I get an icon on the dash board that looks like a car on a lift (the dealers says this means maintenance is due) concurrently with an warning message on my I-Drive that says " High battery drain". The fault does not archive itself in the car memory/computer.

The dealer could not duplicate this fault. They said they had to email BMW for tech assistance.

Any one else having this problem?

It has now been 7 days since I have had the car in to the dealer and have heard nothing. Any one know how long it takes BMW to answer tech help.

On a new model like this, probably forever.... If you have a loaner car and it drives alright be happy, your car is resting while theres is being used...

I'm sure BMW Guy is happy paying for a $55,000 auto while driving a $20,000 loaner.
There was somebody on this sight about 8 months ago who had a problem with leaving his keys in the ignition (car in his garage ) overnight. Curious to know if BMW Guy does the same.

I don't leave the keys in the car. It happened again today and the A/C was off. I called the dealer and they are still waiting a solution from BMW in Germany....it has been 8 days since I had the car in. As usual the dealer said " this is the first time we have seen this problem".

What month was your car built? I would think it has just about the latest software, but if it is a very early 2006, I did find this on another website...

The following software errors were corrected with the release of CIP 17.0 (Target data Status E060-05-03-520).

E60: Battery keeps getting discharged. Carrying out "Energy Diagnosis" test plan, the (aLBV) "active seat back width adjustment" has been recognized as the sleep mode preventer. Recode the complete vehicle.

The only way to tell your software version is for the dealer to hook-up the car to the computer. Maybe you have 16.x, I'm not sure what the release date on 17.0 was but it is very recent. Try asking about a software update to solve the issue.

To kscarrol...thanks for the advice, I contacted my dealer and they are going to check the software out on Monday, June 27. I think he said 17.1 is the latest version. I told him to keep the car until they got it fixed...............
