have yuo thought about suspension uprades. learning how to drive your car to its limits will make your bimmer a faster car. cause i love taking to turns tight with the acceleratior down.

Some might say for good HP gains swap an I head on it.... but what they don't tell you is that you need new pistons. There really isn't a whole lot you can do to an e... if you didn't know e = economy... can't make them a whole lot faster. I would get a chip first... try ebay or bavarian autosport

BINGO!!!! and eta means economy in greek or some other language. Also, i thought you couldnt chip a 1985 325e, but maybe i'm wrong.

dont think you can chip the 85 either.

one thing to make any car faster is help it breathe. larger intake, larger output - interpret that however you can cause i dont know where to find eta parts or what is interchangable. you might check out 528e parts, i dunno.

oh, not to mention tune the engine if it hasnt been done in a while (new filters, plugs, wires). another thing you can do is find a higher ratio final drive. you will lose top end, but its one heck of acceleration difference. Lastly, drop the weight of your car (but that one is hard to do sometimes).

If you go to ajunk yard and find an ECU out of an 86 or later 325e, you can simply swap the units and then put the appropriate chip in there. Just make sure that you pull an ECU from a model that has the same transmission as yours (the ECU #s are different).

I have heard lots of good things about the JC chip for the "e" engine, but one thing keeping me on the fence with that one is that it is suggested to use 91 octane or better, and that puts it at about 2.30-2.60/gal [:(]
