I have purchased this car which is in need of tires. I visited a tire store today and found they have almost no tires to fit this car. They argued from their tire ref book, that BMW did not use 14 inch rims on the 1986 models. My placard on the drivers door jam indicates they are indeed supposed to be 14 inch. Anybody else run into this problem? Placard calls for P195/65/R14. All good models for Goodyear ect are in the P205 format. Is this a big deal or am I being crazy here? [8]

If they have the "bottlecap" style rims, then p195/65/r14 are what you would want to use. I have had people at auto shops try to tell me that their "book" says my car is a front-wheel [ohcrap] drive. It always pays to do your homework.
