Hello,

Well im back again after selling the old 85...I just picked up a 1991 325i cabrio. This car looks to be optioned out to the max. M-tech package, am/fm cass/ 6-disk cd. White leather int, wheels and exterior. Black top etc.....

So one of my questions is, what all does the M-tech package include? I notice the car seems to be lower to the ground and has all the body cladding. Is there a difference in suspension? Wheels look a lot wider than the my old 325e. This car is in pretty good shape for its age and I have every receipt from the day it was new. Im also the 4th owner at 207k miles.

On another note there seems to be some noise and a rattle when you turn the steering wheel either direction. Seems to be coming from under the car or the front of the engine. Steers straight and handles good.

Thanks for your insight [driving]

congratulations on your new car, those models are not common.

M Technic 2 cabrios have a slight height drop, stiffened springs and shocks.
it should also have a 14.5mm rear swaybar, same as m3's.
besides that it's much the same.
perhaps a better geared rear differentoial and includes LSD too, stock 325ic came with 3:73 ratio., some were lsd and some were not.

width should be same but the 15 inch rims and tire combo makes it look wider, side skirts/door panels add to the effect.

does it have m tech door sills too ?

you'll be one of the very few if it came with a manual transmition.
cheers and please post some pics

After putting the car on a lift I have found out the cause of my lower front end. It turns out tha who ever owned the car before me lowered the car the old blowtorch way. The kid heated the springs and blowtorched the struts. There are gaping holes in them . I asked the owner how that could of happend and she stated she had given the car to her son and he had started to work on it. She said the car was too nice to let him tear it up and she sold it. Nice lady......oh well that's what I get for not looking into it more closely.
So I have ordered new struts and am going to get some new springs. I still love the car and it was cheap enough. In time it will be back to normal.

Turn out my car has the M-Technic appearance package. It's alpine white, white leather interior and white 14" BBS wheels. Its an automatic, with just about all e30 options that year. Power top, am/fm cassette, 6-disk changer, Floor mats etc....

After looking up the specs. with vin #'s I can only find 49 alpine white models produced with automatic and 53 in the silver color. My dealer says the car is rare and was only produced in 1991. I guess there was some confusion as some say they came out in 1992, but he assures me that not so....Nice thing is the car was purchased new from the dealer I take my 530i too...so they have all the history.
