I'm leaning towards swapping my current engine which has 270K+ km as it is burning oil and coolant. It is also leaking oil which I believe is from the top end as it is a slow leak.
I have managed to find an engine from a local auto wrecker. It is from a 1992 525i with 147K+ for $750CDN. However it has a cracked timing cover. Is this cracked cover a big deal? Does anybody know if the cover from my current engine can be used for this 147K one? Also, what other concerns and red flags should I be on the look out for before I decide to purchase this engine? What issues if any should I expect from the mechanics?
