Hey Ya'll,
A friend of mine, actually and in-law, has a coolant leak on her 2000 528i. On the top radiator hose (waterpump side) there is some sort of plastic inlet on the top of the sleeve and it is leaking. It looks as if something has broken off here. I saw now wires, so I am pretty sure it is not some sort of sensor. She has to add coolant quite frequently.
Could someone let me know what part I should be looking for? Can the plastic piece (I am guessing it is some sort of safety feature to keep the system at low pressure) be replaced? Or, will a new sleeve be needed. I did all the basic google serches, but to no avail.
Some sort of PDF schematic or parts list with exploded views would be helpful (or a link to said). I want to help her if I can and there are not that many reliable mechanics (for non-usa models anyway) out here in the deserts of UTAH.
Even a closeup pic from under someone's hood would help.
Thanks
Rich
