I live in the northeast and have a 2004 530i with active steering. Over the last few months have had several tires go flat and bent rims from driving over small ruts in road. This is very frustrating. Would not have leased car with 18 inch tires if I had to do it over again. Is anyone else having this problem? Any possible remedies?

weird...
i drive 17's with low profile tires and hit small irregualrities all the time
haven't bent anything yet and haven't gotten a flat either. perhaps
your driving style needs work? ie don't hit the ruts at 80mph? i'm not
sure if that is the case, but i've see it often around here....

u might be able to downgrade your wheel to a 17" ... thus getting a
wider profile tire....

but again, this shouldn't really be happening, b/c there are many many many
people driving with larger wheels over worse ruts who don't have problems...

on a 04 too....there shouldn't be anything wrong with the car....arrrr this is a
tough problem.

is it the same ruts that cause the bends and flats?
what rim is it? all of em? 1 side?

make sure your tirepressure is correct - too low and u'll bend em for sure
