325 rough idle

Hey all,

you've probably seen this before and i'm probably gonna get a couple of responses like "look in this thread" but yea i don't have the time to search right now.

so i was just wondering if you could help me:

my '91 325i has a rough idle whenever i come up to a stop light or stop sign in neutral and then when i make a full and complete stop it goes away.

it also goes away after driving it for a while, but comes back immediately after i turn the car off and then back on again.

its frustrating and annoying. any suggestions?

clarification: it only does the rough idle between .5 and 1 RPM. it doesn't jump much, just enough to make it annoying as hell.

I'm thinking it might be a "vacuum leak" because that's what a friend told me...but i'm not sure about his diagnosis.

Sounds to me like you have the classic symptoms of a vacuum leak.
Doe's your car make a "shhhhhhhhhhh" noise? (kinda similar to the "shh" noise you get when you open a bottle of coca-cola or something)
It is more than likely you have a slight vacuum leak and you should pin point it and correct it as soon as possible so you don't get to frustrated :)
Just pop the hood and point where the "shhh" noise is loudest and replace that part.

I'm tipping intake boot :p

yea i will do that...i havent' noticed a "shh" noise...but i wasn't listening for it...

i'll go do that now!
