5 sp tranny torx bolt - having hard time removing

Trying to drop the tranny off, I am having a hard time to remove the upper tranny bolt on the passenger side. I was able to snake long extensions in place and use an impact, even with torch heat, I had no luck.

Anyone have better ideas? I am thinking to drop the engine down with the tranny together to gain some more room. Have anyone done this? Thanks.

It is a very hard bolt to get to. I assume you have the engine tilted back? Make sure you have the engine held back, because it'll fly into the radiator if you don't!

Anyways - Assuming you have the engine tilted back, you need to go buy yourself your new best friend - PB Blaster. Spray that bolt on both ends with pb blaster and let it soak for an hour. Then go at it again. It took me and my friend 3 long wobble extensions, and a 2 foot breaker bar with BOTH of us pulling. Eventually it just snapped and let go.

yes, jack up the front of the engine. You will gain tons of access if you haven't already. Just don't break the engine mounts.

Thanks for the replies Guys.........

Just wanted to make sure I understand tillting the engine back. Where is the jack point to tilt the engine? From other forum, one fellow advised me to drop the tranny mount bracket to gain more space which I haven't done that yet. I will try tonight. TIA.

yeah i dropped the tranny mount and tilted the engine back by using the oil pan, but a safer way would be to get a peice of wood and put it on the oil pan bolts to jack it.
