I have a 2002 530i which uses more oil than I am accustomed to (OK I admit I'm used to Toyotas which never used any oil, this is my first BMW and the first car using synthetic oil). Anyway, in the first 30,000 miles I have added five quarts of oil in addition to probably two additonal quarts at oil changes. At my request an oil consumption test was started one month ago and it was one quart low today after only 650 miles. Looking at this and other forums, there seems to be a wide range of oil use by different engines. Anyway, the service manager (who was out today) is supposed to contact me this week. Is this a problem? What should he say/offer and what should be my response. By the way, the car otherwise runs beautifully (no blue smoke from the tailpipe) and has no other issues.
