530i wait from HELL

I ordered a 2004 530i a couple of weeks ago and I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes that darn boat to get to California!!!!!! I live in Utah and I was surprised the boat was headed for california.

I have been tracking my car on the BMW owner's circle website and it seems to be stuck in "En Route". The lack of sleep waiting for this car is killing me.

Also, does anyone have an opinion about window tinting and clear bra?

natew, welcome to the club. i ordered mid-march mine shows enroute too and i have been told by the dealer to expect it 3rd week of april.

The wait is the toughest part. I can only imagine how hard it would be to do an ED, drive the car, then wait like 8 weeks to get it back.

My wait escalated yesterday after I did all my paperwork and actually paid for the car. I'm picking it up in 3 weeks in Spartanburg but had to have all my I's dotted and T's crossed before heading down there.

I am glad you all feel my pain!!! The dealer is sending me to another place to do the Tint and Bra. About 700 for both. Is that a good deal?

Should have opted for the European delivery. Still would have had to wait...but at least you would have gotten to drive her and knew what you waiting for. Would have gotten the free German vacation also.

Ordered a 545i six speed end of November and was told to expect the car 2nd week of January. After new years, I was looking forward to the car, only to be told there had been delays so delivery was pushed back to February. As February drew near, another phone call delievered to me news of another delay. In the meanwhile, my dealer invited me to take a look at the other fives on the lot, they even had some 545s on hand. I was adamant on driving a stick so the wait continued.

The first week of march, I got a call telling me that the car arrived at port. This was on a tuesday, and the next sunday the dealer called again, telling me the car had arrived. I canceled my plans and picked up the car that day.

Having ordered a manual transmission, aided in my delay as I was told dealerships only got a pair of six-speed 545s per month.

Do you have individual pricing for the tinting and clear bra? Is this done through BMW?

Bummer about your wait. My wait's been even longer but for different reasons.

Your dealer may have played a game with you and with their allocation. Were you ever given a production number back when you ordered the car? (I'm thinking they didn't place the order in November.) Maybe they didn't have a build slot so they kept you waiting in order to get you to buy off the lot? I pretty sure the dealers don't have allocations given to them based on transmissions so the "only got a pair of 6-speeds per month" doesn't sound right.

I ordered my car in November too but my wait was expected since I ordered SMG, Nav, & HUD which all had delays. My car had to be a March build based on the availability of the options but in late February, when the dealer was able to actually place the order in the BMW system, they gave me a production number to confirm it. Right on schedule, the car was built and it's now over here at the VPC or Performance Center waiting for me to get it.

Either way, these cars are worth the wait! Enjoy!!

Yeah, I'm thinking that they ran out of build slots as well. Never got a production number, but never asked for one either. I figure if I was checking the status of the car online, the wait would take even longer.

Two six-speeds per month does seem low, but I stopped by every now and then, and never saw a manual transmission in a titanium silver 545i.

they shipped more other years)

i def feel ure pain....i ordered the 530i on the 20th and time just keeps slowing down....

the thing with the owners circle on bmw.com is that there is a 2-3 delay on when they update the system...per dealer...which i'm not too sure about..


anyway, car i ordered....metallic black on black leather..sport, premium pkg, xenon, cd changer, xenon

anyone know what the approx cost for tints are for the dealers and any good dealers for clear bras in ny/nj?
