Hello, I have a 2005 545i... about 36K miles... every so often at a stop sign or redlight when i start to accelerate i feel a slippage towards the back of my vehicle. almost as if the drivetrain, axel, etc is out of synch... this typically happens after i have been shifting between "D" and "DS".

Does anyone have any input here as to the potential issue and cause? I'm taking it into the dealership but worry they will overlook the issue until my warranty expires, thus I'm stuck with the repair bill.

Your feedback is appreciated.

It seems like the 5 series bulletin board is full of maintenance problems while the 3 series board is not. Do the 5 series, especially the 2003s, have maintenance issues?

When people have problems with their car where do they go to vent their frustrations? The BMWboard forum. I think that answers the question best.

According to consumer reports the 2003 5-series was a best pick, and the 3-series was off their list for "reliability issues". I personally have ZERO problems with my 330i.
