Hi All,

Picked up a used 2001 M3 convertible a few weeks ago (trading in my Acura TL). Loving the car, but one little problem - I have 3 kids, and I didn't realize that there are only two back seats (and seatbelts) in this car! Would love to get the whole family in it for summer cruising, but I can't do so safely at the moment.

So, any ideas on how to add a 5th seatbelt to the car? There are brackets behind each of the 2 seats for holding a child seat - I was thinking about just adding a lap belt connected to the middle 2 of those. I'd prefer a shoulder belt though, but anything safe would be okay. Anyone wrestled with this yet?

Thanks in advance.

Kick the wife out [hihi].

Just kidding... You can't add a 5th seatbelt legally (don't believe you are allowed to add seats to a car...), so I probably wouldn't really reccomend it... I believe the middle part is up higher than the other 2, so if by chance you roll the car, that person won't be protected at all by the popup roll bar. Honestly I don't think the idea of putting 5 people in a 4 person car is safe or smart - but there might be a way to do it if you really want to.

I've asked the dealer if they could install the 'Latch' anchors for our baby seat. They won't even consider it because of liability. I would think a 5th seatbelt would be the same.
