Hello All,

My wife was driving our 528i today.
I drove it afterwards and noticed the brake pedal going
close to the floor before braking.
Normally it is about an inch or so of travel before they start to work.
I asked my wife what happened, and she just said it was doing it
going down hill. She said it was intermittent. When I drove it there was
nothing intermittent at all. Just near the floorboard to stop.
It acts as if the lines need bleeding. The brake fluid level is just a bit below
the MAX mark. I pumped the brakes many times, and noticed some action
in the brake reservoir ie.. fluid moving (happened on pumping- once)

Before then, yesterday all was normal.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Scott

I would think that one section within the master cylinder has failed - or there has been a failure in one of the two zone.

Any fluid loss of large proportions?

If not - then the failure would appear to be within the master cylinder.

EIther way - it is not recommended to drive after any brake malfunction. If the 2nd part of the master cylinder goes - you will have no brakes - except the emrgency /park brake.

Best regards
