Hi all, Im new to this site. [wave]

I just bought a z3 from the east coast and drove it back through the snow....not fun...well....maybe just a little [:)]

Anyway I took it out today after putting in my passprt x50 [driving2] and took it for a spin.

Much to my dismay it topped out at 117 or so. And it really started to bog down around 110. I was not happy to say the least. [chair]

I know that I didnt buy the M....so beggars cant be choosers....but still 117!!! cmon! thats slower than my audi a4! anyway....this car is all show and no go. I was wondering if there was anyone out there that knew where one could purchase a supercharger.....or preferably a turbo....that wouldnt break my bank. And especially some sort of chip to bypass the rev limiter. I mean cmon....what is that...117...BS!!! I looked at the other guys post and couldnt find a chip from his thread that would work on a z3. Any help would be appreciated.

Ps: is it possible to drop an M motor in this thing? I dont even know im just asking.

you might've hit the top end limiter at 117mph? i've had mine to 119/120(naturally aspirated) but didn't have the road to find out if i hit the limiter? consider that a S/C uses HP while a T/C does not, if you are looking to top it out regularly.
http://www.techniquetuning.com/ just a site i've found. i'm considering doing a software upgrade, maybe even stage II or III?

The 96 Z3 limiter is set at 120mph.

Since the 96 only came with a 4 cylinder, your only options would be SC or engine transplant for any real HP gains.

Abdoman, why would you say that T/C'ing is not an option? i'd say that there is more potential from T/C'ing than S/C'ing because of the parasitic loss of turning the S/C. the Mosselman system is pretty weak in the HP output and boost dept but that can be tweeked! i went with the Downing/Atlanta system for cost and ease of install. only the intake side of the engine is altered, and the exhaust stays where it is on the dark side of the cylinder bank.
