AC Schnitzer Spoiler

I recently bought a replica AC Schnitzer front add-on lip spoiler (hand-laid fiberglass). I tried it on and noticed that there is not much contact area between the bumper cover and the spoiler. There are no instructions or hardware that came with the spoiler for installation.

What I'm concerned is, if I use double sided tape, it won't be strong enough to hold it, especially at high speed winds. There is not much contact surface area at all. If I use screws, it's a no no, gonna look bad! The only choice I have now is to use some kinda permanent glue, like liquid nails or construction grade super strength adhesive (pliable, like caulking).

Does anyone have any experience with this? What kind of glue is best for this application, does it have to be high heat resistant, pliable, waterproof...etc.?

Thanks!

sorry dude, but that is nothing i know about. double sided tape in combination with a car is almost never a good idea. could you actually see the screw? if not it would definetly be the safest to fix the lip permanently.

The common practice for fixing down spoilers is riveting and touch-up the whole bumper as if it's a single piece to match the body paint.

Thanks onnyap,

I got some feedback from another forum, they all seem to say that a "black glue" is what they use and it's by WURTH. I don't think I can find the similar German brand glue where I am, but I'll search for something close.

As for rivets, I thought about that too, but it won't be practical if I have to putty over them and then try to make the surface look perfect. It will end up looking crappy.

go to an automotive store and look for urethane glue. it's black and 3m actually makes it. it comes in a tube like caulking glue. it's made for what you're trying to do!!!! it's how i attached my rear roof spoiler...
damn, i think i used "it" too much.... ah well.
