I just switched back to mobil 1 No one had the new Syn. 10w-40 weight so I bought 10w-30. The 10w-30 is not ACEA A3 certified. I think the E36 M3 calls for that rating. The 10w-30 is certified as a A1/A5. I have 80000 miles on the car. I was just wondering if I need to drain the stuff out and get an ACEA A3 oil back in there. I have heard of a lot of E36 M3 guys switching to 0-40 Mobil for year round protection even in hot conditions. Any advice? According to Mobil 1 the viscosity of the 0w-40 has better protection that the 10w-30 and 5w-30. [driving]

well I spoke to a Mobil1 rep and he said that the oil is great for the S52 and for all climates. Let me know what you find.

well I can't find the 10w-40 anywhere around here. I have checked Walmart, advance, and Pep boys. They do carry the extended performance but not in the 10w-40 weight. I just moved to Orlando. I'm going to UTI right now and then on to the BMW STEP Program. Wish Me Luck!!
