Funny, I don't even have the car yet and I'm already contemplating wheel choices! :) Since the roads in the NY / NJ area are crappy and snow is a reality, the plan is to stay with the 17" wheel option and use the existing all-season run-flats for year-round driving.

Wheels below are all under consideration. I like the BBS RA's the most...BBS wheels are known for strength and quality.

Any other suggestions, comments, pictures, past experiences? Let's see some other choices!

BBS is great, but some of the their wheels are just overly expensive. Certain OZ Racing rims look great on BMW's. Have you checked out TireRack's Upgrade Garage to see how the different wheels look on your upcoming new car?

As for the tires, I think sticking with the all-seasons should work fine, but every time it starts snowing, you should be prepared to drive home ASAP! RWD is just the worst setup for winter driving.

Go with SSR Competitions or SSR GT2's. Both superlightweight in 17's. I also have really lightweight wheel. 17" 3 piece fikse fm10's, but they are probably out of your price range...
I actually heard about strength issues with SSR, and I'm also speaking from personal experience. I'm currently driving an Acura with 18" SSR GT-3's...the lip has been bent numerours times from potholes. Will probably go with 17" BBS-CH and 235/45/17 Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S run-flats as the year-round tire.

No RWD for me, planning on getting the 330XI...with decent high performance all-season run-flats I should be fine, hopefully.
