[read] I just bought an ANSA exhaust system and i was hoping some of your guys that have the ANSA could tell me how much they like it. I wasnt sure what i wanted, but i came across a good deal on this system and bought it. Its been shipped and should be here by the end of the week, but with the chip and intake that i have already put on it i am hoping it will make a bit of difference. Anybody have any opinions on the matter......

Thanks!

am i sacrificing power/performance if my muffler has holes in it? ( not a theoretical question)
Well you could potentially be loosing backpressure which a certain amount of backpressure IS required or else you loose power.

The Ansa I had in my 318 was pretty decent...especially since I didn't want to throw a 500 dollar muffler on a 1,000 dollar car. And it didn't sound like a sh*t coffee-can muffler!

i'm assuming you mean "emissions" and i can't for the life of me figure out what your rack and pinion would have to do with that.

I just got my ireland engineering free flow cat-back exhaust installed about a week ago and I really like it. It still retains that throaty bmw sound but steps it up a notch. You really can hear when you fire it up and at wide open throttle. Took me about two hours to install myself, it was my first time. But im satisfied, and didnt cost me an arm and a leg. Its all stainless steel and shiny as hell which i like.

I just had an ANSA muffler installed in my 86 325e about a month ago. I like it, its very very quiet, might give u a little more power but nothing really noticable. all in all it cost me about $200 , from the cat back, with mounting hardware. The only minor complaint I have is that it hangs a little to low for my taste.

i didn't know they checked that during emisions. although if it was cracked and leaking, it's a good think they did.
I think it could be considered emissions since it was leaking fluid, but thats weird -- thats just part of inspection in PA, our emissions here is just exhaust.

I have just bought myself a Borla exhaust.. can't wait to hear the sound.... waiting for it to come...
The only noteable "bad" thing about the borla's, are there is something called the "Borla Drone". At highway/constant speeds, they have a tendency to drone, to the point it gets to be annoying. I'm not sure if it happens to every car they are installed on but i would assume so.

Aparently you can order a part from bora for free that takes car of the drone without messing anything else up.

Im a studnt on a budget, i needed exhaust to replace the rotted out stock stuff on my '88 325iS, but didnt want stock, ANSA looked like a good deal, and it was. the only thing i dont really like about it is that it is too quiet. other than that, an excellat deal.

Well, the stock exhaust (which does have quite a nice sound) is something like $140, not very bad. Just make sure you don't go to the dealer.
