Anybody see X-Men 3 yet?

I thought X-Men 1 and X-Men two were pretty good movies and my friends were all excited to see the first midnight showing of it when it was released last Wednesday so I joined them.

The movie was "okay" and the worst of the three X-Men movies. The plot and storyline were great, but everything just wasn't well-executed. The acting wasn't so great either, and it seemed like different writers wrote the script or something this time.

None of my friends were impressed, either. Anybody see it yet? Your thoughts?

i saw X3 this weekend and had a BLAST!! my suggestion is for people to ignore the critical reviews, forget the lofty expectations, and just go see it with an open mind, and you'll have a great time. just remember to stay til the VERY end- ie wait until after all the credits are done, because there is an extra scene. =)

without giving away anything, X3 was fast-paced, intense, emotional, and loaded w/ cool special effects, action sequences, an exciting story-line, and enjoyable characters. the movie was incredibly well-balanced and never really dragged. you get completely drawn into this make believe sci-fi world & it's story & characters and hope that you don't run out of popcorn before the movie ends. even the ending has some nice twists that keep you wanting more.

the main reason X3 has come under criticism is because the original brainchild (writer/ director) behind the X-men movies, brian singer, didn't work on X3 from start to finish. due to creative differences with the studio etc., he left early and went to go work on the new Superman movie. and, brett ratner was brought in to finish the film. although bret ratner had some success with the rush hour films, objectively-speaking, he's relatively inexperienced and has never really completed any films of this genre or scale. rush hour was a tepid, formulamatic hollywood movie that just happened to be a box office hit for many coincidental and silly reasons- and NOT because bret ratner is a great director by any means.

as far as the criticisms go, i've heard most of them and understand the points of view of some of the die-hard fans. yes, there are some questionable decisions made as to why and how certain scenes or sequences were placed, or missing for that matter, in this film. but, all i can say is that ultimately the mark of a good movie is whether it tells the story in a way that's exciting, keeps your attention, and is entertaining. and, in X3, i feel all the above have been met. so knit-picking apart minor details about this and that and then saying the movie sucked seems rather juvenile to me. those minor details will all probably show up in the deleted scenes in the dvd. but, as-is, the movie was a thought-provoking, exciting ball of fun. I saw it already here in Germany.....it was good but the pacing in the first hour sucked....loooong times with little to no action...but the Dark Phoenix scenes rocked...but can anyone tell me where the hell Nightcrawler was??? and by the way David Hayter wrote the first storyline for X1 not Brian Singer(he is also the actor that played as the "Guyver" and voices Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid)

I liked it. Enjoyed the action and special effects. You have to go in with fairly low expectations. I definitely thought it was better than X-Men 2 by far, and a good bit better than #1.

It doesn't follow the comic book storylines/powers all the way, but if you're not a die hard fan that knows everything about it, you wouldn't know the difference.

There's a final scene at the very end. After all the credits. It's only about 2-3 seconds long and really not worth waiting to see. Find out what happens and that's about it. Or, wait for the DVD when you can fast forward through the credits. If you seach and can't find it, just PM me unless the general consensus in this thread is for me to just post what happens. I was so annoyed at how short it was, I actually blurted out, "That's it!?!" in the theater.

Havn't seen it yet but I want to, should I wait for the DVD release and rent it?
DVD. I'm thinking it's best to watch it in the comfort of your own home for the most realistic experience of the movie.

Just curious. How many people in the theater stayed til the very end? Seemed like half the theater in mine did. Musta all been more than casual fans cuz it was like the entire middle section. These are the people who got to the theater REAL early (it was opening day) to get the better seats.
