Considering one with news of our first child on the way (and already having a yellow lab).

Looking for good/bad experiences with the car.

TIA,

Hi,

I took a 2006 530xiT for a very long, and in-depth test drive on Sunday, here in Los Angeles. I hated it, as did the salesman. The dealer has about 5 of them, and has been unable to sell any of them. The salesman said that EVERY person that came in to buy the wagon, bought a 5er sedan.

The wagon is expensive, gets poorer gas mileage, and has the same seating room as the sedan.

It drove heavy, cumbersome, handled lousy and it really felt like a Mattress on 4 wheels.

It did look quite nice, but I was very, very disappointed (especially after having a 2004 E46 wagon).

IMO, I would really consider an X5 or the 5er sedan. Btw, the X5 has the highest residual and best lease/finance rates of any BMW.

CONGRATULATIONS on the baby!! We are hoping to have one soon too :) Hope I can keep my M3 [;)]

The X5 is also the oldest (out of the current model line-up) and one of the most successful BMWs ever... I don't think it has as much space as the 5er wagon however.

The poor sales of the wagon just might be a good thing... I'm thinking 55k msrp loaded 530xiT for 48k, sounds like a deal for those who want the car just for the purpose of driving the latest model BMW wagon... not everyone is an enthusiast, I'd take a new wagon for 7k off sticker. [hihi]

I find the 06' 530Xit a dream on wheels with all the cargo room one needs. Plus it looks soo much nicer than a SUV.
How much did you get off sticker? I heard the NY dealers life quality, bayside, manhattan (well maybe them, but they have a service dept. from hell), etc.. don't give much of a deal on new model cars...

I paid $53,200 for ; leather, auto, satellite, winter and premium packages . I had him install mudflaps (for cost) and install an IPod hardwire (to radio) mount in glove compartment ( for cost)..
Easy to bargain with their stock on hand than ordering one special.

Ps- I find buying in NJ easier and more cost efficient for us.. being from S.I. it's close and the salespeople aren't as pushy or arrogant as those you find in NYC dealerships. IMHO [:D
Pss- Make sure your getting the newer 06' with push button start ( if you want one) the original 06's they got in the spring and summer all came with key start..Only after Sept 06 did the Xit's come standard with push button.
