Hey, I was wondering if any of you knew where I could find complete rebuild kits for my 318i. Its a inline 4 cyl. I know I can get a new rebuilt motor from Bavarian Motor Exchange, but I wanna do it myself (with the help of my mechanic friend) and save a little money. What do ya think.

Before you go and buy a kit you need to find out if your crankshaft needs to be turned and if the cylinders need to be bored. I have two 318's, I plan to make a race car with one someday. In my time of searching the net I have never seen anyone offer a complete rebuild kit for the M10 four cylinder.

I would recomend for your car that you go and try to find another M10 four cylinder to rebuild and then just do a weekend engine swap. I really recommend that you go and try to find an older 2.0 engine out of a 2002 or a '79 or earlier 320i. The '80-83 320i's had the smaller 1.8 engine, the same engine that comes in the 318i... except the fuel injection is different. The 320 2.0 engine had 125 horsepower while the later 318i engine only had 105 horsepower.

You can do a lot of work to make those M10's run real fast. Here is a website that offers nice aftermarket parts for the M10. Last time I checked they even had a sale on some nice custom made forged pistons for the M10.
