How do you remove the backseat from a 5 series? I looked around and I couldn't find any bolts. I think it may be in the trunk but then I need some sort of special tool. Any idea guys?

i figured how to remove it. anyways the 528i i've only had it for 2 weeks, so far i had problems with the volume knob not working, the passenger side mirror moving by itself for some reason, and the parked car ventilation light blinking. i fixed all of the problems though, except for the passenger side mirror, i am going to look at that tomorrow. by the way, what types of problems have you had?...so i can prepare myself for it or take preventive measures for it when it comes.

The passenger side mirror moves down when you shift to reverse? That's a feature to assist with viewing the lower area of your car (like tire and the curb for example) when you are backing up. You can choose not to have that feature on by switching the left/right selection button on the side mirrors adjust panel. I don't remember off hand which side is for what, though. You'd have to try it out, either left or right.

What's the "parked car ventilation light blinking"?

Is it the fan turning on when your engine is parked and not running? If so, it could be that the fan is set on the timer to come on at a certain time by the previous owner, and the blinking light is an indicator that the timer is on. You can disable the timer, read the manual on the OBC display controls.

yea the parked car ventilation allows the air in the car to circulate when the car is parked in the heat so that when you return to your car it wont be so hot. however, that is an extra option in the 97 model which i dont have. nonetheless, the light is standard in all 97 models even if the option exists or not. however, the owner told me that the light recently went on a few months before i bought the car. it ddint seem like a big deal to me though, any how i stopped the light from blinking by taking apart the A/C console and then puttign it back together and somehow that worked.

Well, I have had to replace both rear window regulators, which is a very common problem, valve cover gasket, tension pulley, rear wheel bushings, the sunroof won't pop up, the thermostat housing and the driver's door seal (common problem). The driver's seat is loose and clicks when going around corners (common). I have only had the car a year, so...........

I think the thermostat housing cracked when my tension pulley failed.
