Here is my 7.62 cents on the cars I drove last night.
760iL Wonderfully powerful. Although the ass-end on it is sort of bulbous, the car is a driving dream. I drive is an overrated, not-neccesary piece of garbage. Car is very sharp in the inside, and I would have a very hard time thinking of another automobile that has the ergonomics and basic overall ease of operation of this car. The rear end is still ugly though.
Z4 I have gained a lot more respect for the little car. They only had automatics, but even with the steptronic in sport mode, it was more than a pleasure to drive. Very good handling, minimal distractions in the interior, all round snotty little drivetrain. They could have put volume adjustments on the steering wheel as they do with the 3's and fiver. Again, the ass-end is bulbous and sticks up to high, but the car is quite the little roadster.
330ci Great power, and the interior is completely based around the driver as it should be. Again, they only had the steptronic, but it was a great car regardless. What else can I say, it's a baby M3.
325ix Great handling and feel for the road. Lacking much needed horsepower that the 330ci and Z4 supplied.
525i All breaks down to one statement. Great for a family, or old people. The car is a fine example of the beautiful styling found in the older 5ers, but it is simply just to much damn car for the engine.
540i Sport Wagon WOW!!! Holy balls Batman!! By far one of the most proportionate power of all the cars. Even as a wagon the 8 pulled it allong at a steady pace. I can tell you down right that it was up to 114MPH before the end of the onramp and I didn't even notice. One of the smoothest cars I have ever been in in my life. Some other guy in the Z4 was absolutely shocked when he got passed by the big wagon. It would be the perfect car for a speed freak with a couple of kidlets.
X5 Thank god this thing had the 8 in it. Once I got it to move it got along pretty well. I can not understand why they would even think about putting a smaller engine in this vehicle. The interior is laid out in a very orderly and worthwhile configuration giving the driver complete control of everything. Overall it is a very good example of what the luxury SUV is.
I also saw the new 5er. Although it is still ugly, it is not nearly as hideous as I thought it was going to be. Had it not been for the older M5 sitting next to it, I probably wouldn't have had a problem with it. The ass-end on that car is a lot more subtle than it appears in pictures and adds. I won't however beat around the bush about it being a complete disaster compared to the smooth styling of the older 5 series.
