Am new to hb. Think I want a 5 series and need reference material. Any suggestions on books or websites dealing with the engine problems, decoding VINs, etc? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welsome to the board. I suggest you simply "google" search bmw five series. You will get more pages than you could ever read. I know of no major issues witih the fiver's, except for the now getting old "Nikasil" block issue of the 94-96 ( I believe) V8 BMW motors. That would only relate to the 560 and 530 V8 models. I am not the "expert" on fives so be paitent and other will chime in here too! Again welcome aboard.
