Amid a gaggle of paparazzi trying to capture a shot of Lindsay Lohan as she pulled up to a valet lane at a Manhattan hotel, she struck one in the knees with her mom’s BMW and knocked him to the ground.

Police received conflicting stories. Lohan said INF Photo employee, Giovanni Arnold, jumped onto the hood of her car. Arnold’s camp said he was merely standing in front of the car when Lohan abruptly reversed the car and went forward.

“She got out of the car to look at Giovanni on the ground as she’s talking to a cop, and then she’s allowed to leave,” said Dawn Leikness, INS sales director. “The other photographers there threw a fit that she was allowed to leave. The cops then asked her friends to call her to come back, and she came back.”

Arnold was treated for minor injuries at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

I'm going to sound like an jerk for saying this, but I honestly feel that that injury was part of his job. Police officers go to work everyday with the understanding that s/he may have to go into a dangerous or unstable situation. Paparazzi, similarly, must (or at least should) understand that when someone is constantly hounded or bothered, there is a risk that someone is going (a) become unstable, (b) make mistake because of nerves, (c) react when Paparazzi refuse to back off, et cetera.

Now of course, I agree she should be liable for any actual damages, but this Paparazzi, Arnold, (based ONLY on what I have read here) seems to be indignant and insulted by her actions. The other paparazzis' attitude, I also find appalling.

Also, her excuse I find amusing. "jumped onto the hood of her car." I thought there were rules about that kind of stuff? At least property laws must apply in some way. I think, if she was annoyed, she should have revved the engine pretty high and made that Bimmer sing.... that should have gotten those people away.

I think they get what they deserve, yeah, suck it up wuss. They have no respect at all for privacy that common decency and civility dictates. So I have no sympathy for them when they get punched, bumped, etc.

By the way, paparazzi is derived from Italian and means "noisy, buzzing mosquito" - quite appropriate!!

Dumba$$ paparazzi.... He's needs to start barking up the paparazzi sympathy tree. I'm sure he can find some one there who will feel sorry for him.... [?|]

I dunno. My personal opinion is you should get a point taken away from your license if you hit a paparazzi. And in CA, you get a point added if you do something bad, not taken away. [}:)]

Not that I actually give a rats ass about firecrotch but yeah, the paparazzi are really stupid. Just let the girl leave a place for gods sake. I know if I had those people around me I'd start throwing punches.

you'd figure with swarm of paparazzis around a picture of some kind would surface.
they are worth a thousand words right?
that would end the argument real quick.

If you're standing in front of a car with a driver in it, wanting to leave, you should expect to get hit. As a matter of fact, he should have gotten up and said "Touché" and brushed himself off.
