Some Of The Lights Have Stoped Working On My Odometer How Do I Fix It? Just A Single Row Straight Down . It Makes It Hard To Red The Number At Times... What Can I Do .... Help

I am figuring your 540i is out of warranty. I had the same problem with dot matrix on the odometer but I just took it in the dealer and they had to replace the whole display.

I'm having the same problem with my 2003 530i. It has 152,000 miles on it. A few of the lights went out a couple of months ago but it hasn't gotten any worse. Does anyone know how much it costs to replace the display? My car is obviously out of warranty. [driving2]

That is a common E39 fault. It has been posted here before numerous times and I have shared my experience. If your mileage is not too high, you could try writing in to BMW customer relations, they might be able to offer something.

I just brought a 99 540 that developed this problem...I was told that they have to replace the instrument panel its all connected...take about two hours and cost was $750...the place where I brought mine is going to replace mine
