brake light sensor

I too have that problem with my 94 530i. Replaced light bulbs and dash computer still tells me 1 brake light out. Have you gotten any good info on how to fix this? I have reset the codes, checked the fuses, disconnected the battery nothing works. I am having trrouble with my fuel gage also. I have to use the dash board comp by the radio to see how much fuel I have.

That's a common thing with BMWs I think. I had that one too before on my previous car. Light came on though nothing was wrong with the rear lights, won't go away, eventually went away after some time but not too long though. Happened again on my current car, I checked out the rear lights, fiddle around for loose contact, the warning light went off. Weird...

try cleaning or sanding the contact points and make sure all contact points are touching. what i mean is you may need to pry the contacts to insure a snug fit with the bulbs.

There is no sensor to speak of actually. The LSZ (Lamp Module) sends a small, very small, amount of current through all the light circuits, except the Xenon headlights which have their own modules. This tests the integrity of the circuit and tells if there is an open in the wiring or a blown bulb, which turns on the light.
