I will be picking up a 2004 325 the last week of this month. Fresh from Germany - What will I have to do as far as washing, waxing, etc.........?

Is there a time frame for the first waxing?

Ask your dealer when it was painted and the recomemded "wait time", paints vary...,

I recommend a good wash with Dawn to remove anything the dealer applied (it is best to ask they do not detail it).

Next step, clay the paint, then-
Polish the paint-
Seal or wax the paint.

If you have not tried Einszett..., it is a product that is amazing in performance and ease of use..., VERY High Grade.

There should be no wait time with a new BMW. My dealer applied Zymol Concourse wax to my car before I picked it up and I have used it ever since. I would not clay a new car, as there should be no need. I clayed my car the first time three years after I purchased it, of course it was parked (covered) during the winter and garaged every night. Rub your hand over the finish and if it feels rough, like sandpaper, then you need to clay it. Good luck and enjoy.

Lots of cars that are new need to be clayed to remove any overspray and rail dust that gets embedded in the paint before it has a chance to cause damage down the road. Kinda like little metal splinters.
It will make the paint last longer. You can not really see a difference after claying, but in most cases, you can not see an improvement after removing a little metal shaving from your finger..., but it sure does make a difference when it is finally removed.

I agree, the paint "should" be cured..., but would rather te dealer be held accountable:)

BTW, nice ride Big Daddy:)
Weekends must be a blast!!
