The day before Thanksgiving, I was hit from behind by a Ford Taurus doing about 50 mph. I was stopped waiting to turn left when this lady wacked the hell out of me and my '03 M3. The impact completely crushed the rear right tire, the passenger door won't open, gas was pouring out and the left quarter panel behind the driver door sustained damage as well.

When the tow truck came and they lifted the car onto the flat bed, the rear axle fell off, along with a host of bolts, etc. Has anyone ever had this happen to them. I'm waiting to hear from the insurance adjusters but given the holiday that won't happen until next week. I'm wondering if they will total the car. It has 21,000 miles on it and was in perfect condition.

Sorry to hear, hope no one got hurt. It pains me to see such a beautiful car get wreck but someone so careless. Its the sounds of it the structural integrity of the car was compromised. Unfortunately, in any accident its a losing proposition. You can get it fix from the insurance company but it will never be the same as the original. If the insurance considers it "total" they will pay you out the used value of the car, but probably not enough to get exact replacement. sucks how insurance works.

I agree with Nataku. It's really is a lose, lose situation. Though we don't know the amount of the damage, I think they'll have your car fixed instead of totalling it out. because of well our cars hold their value.

I hope you and everyone involved it okay. I'm really sorry this happened. [:(]

Sorry to hear man. That really sucks. I would try and have them total your car. I was rear ended by an suv doing 28mph recently and my car, even though fixed, never felt the same. Hope no one was hurt. I bet you have a lot more to be thankful about this thankgiiving. Happy holidays man.

that sucks man...They will definitely total the car if the axel actually fell out (serious body/structural damage). Fortunately you should be able to get a rental until your new M3 comes along. It really sucks. My 1988 325is was totaled by a dumbass in an Audi A8 who made a left turn in front of me... i got screwed over by insurance and lost a near-perfect E30 which could easily been in collectable condition. Oh well :(

Man that sucks! Those are extemely nice cars. I have a passion for these cars that can not be put in words. I hope every thing works out for you. Keep us up to date on what happens. Hopefully you will be able to get a good used E46 M3 or a new E46 M3. Good luck man, damn stupid ass drivers.

P.S. How old was the lady?

Thanks for all the kind words. The lady was in her late 50's. Still haven't heard from the insurance company. They don't seem to know what the heck to do. What a mess.
