[rofl] My buddy and I have both had this experience in our z-3's of being busted for the speed of the car behind us. What happens is the top is down (low radar profile exists) coming down slope to the radar gun, with a car behind racing up to a tailgate position, as the radar gun tracks you. The cops of course say their equipment is infallable (which is why the manufacturers have R & D departments - to improve a perfect piece of equipment, riiiight), and that it won't register a car behind the target. I say it has happened to me and my friend. Anyone else out there getting falsely accused? How do you convince a judge that the equipment has some flaws?

A mock demonstration comes to mind... But that's a pretty expensive way of proving ur innocence. What was the speed on the ticket, and how much? (pts and fine?)

I dont know but having the top down wont effect radar by even .5 hp.

Radar can catch a little 3" baseball going 100 mph... i'm sure i can spot the half ton of sheet metal in front of you or the glass.

The answer to the question can be found on the site copradar.com. it explains how a larger faster vehicle behind a slower smaller vehicle can and will register its speed instead of the targeted lead vehicle. Good site to review, you will know when the cop says the radar doesn't lie that he/she has their "pants on fire".
