buy euro e34 alpina without records?

I saw a nice 1989 grey e34 Alpina (regularly aspirated 252bhp, not the bi-turbo, 150,000 kilometers or 90,000 miles on it) yesterday, imported into Canada from Germany by a small-volume importer of unknown reputation. It's cheap (since no one knows Alpina up here - everyone wants an M5), looks very nice and runs well, has all necessary paperwork and domestic inspections, but there are no service records. Aside from having my mechanic go over it with a fine tooth comb, is there any way to check out a Euro import? In general, what kinds of things should I be looking out for when buying late-1980's e34? Any idea about parts costs? My last BMW was an e28 533i - fast and beauiful, but I sold on a whim after a couple of expensive trips to the garage, and I've regretted it ever since! Any advice on this kind of purchase greatly appreciated - I've got the fever.

wow if u have the money i'd jump on this
worst case it'll have leaks...but pre buy inspections
should fix that

in usa if u import a car then it has to meet regulations
regarding signals safety lighting etc... check with your
local dmv?
