Just got a '95 6 weeks ago.
Mine had 59K miles on it when I took delivery.
The V8 beemers of the early to mid 90's had a much publicized issue with cylinder pitting as a result of high sulfur gasoline. ALWAYS get a compression test at a minimum before buying. The pitting caused a loss of compression with a resulting rough idle. Open your front doors all the way at idle, if they bouce, you may have worn engine mounts or the cylinder issue.
Many cars were never exposed to high sulfur gas, most notably the CA cars. The "environmental extremists" kept sulfur low there throughout the 90's. Low sulfur regs went into effect for the rest of the US in 2001. There has just been a problem in the Southern US with Shell gasoline not effectively removing the sulfur and a number of cars are having fuel gauge problems since their silver electrodes are corroding. See CNN today.
Also, adding to the mix is the fact that most of those V8's did not develop problems. The vocal minority who had problems are the reason the cars are priced so nicely today. Just make certain you don't get a bad one. Mine is causing me to smile daily as I blow past many surprised drivers.
