I think I've lost some tools in the little toolbox in my trunk, but I can't remember what used to be there. Can someone snap some pictures real quick?

Tom, how many spots are missing tools. I know the slot where the tow hook is is almost always not there, because it is usually where the spare or in our case the mobility kit is. I will try and remember to take a pick tonight and post as soon as I can....

A picture would be great Scott. I think you're right, it may be the tow hook that is missing. I just happened to look at the tool box last night and noticed an empty slot.

I know there is and empty slot right in the middle where the tow hook goes, but for some reason BMW always puts it down where the tire should be. This was the same way with the "2000" 328i I had. When I bought the M I thought it was missing and mentioned it to the dealer prep guy and he put one in the toolbox however, when I was looking in the tire compartment (for us the Tire mobility) I found the new on that was already there. I don't know why the do that...

Hmm, maybe I am missing some tools too. I don't have the warning triangle or a screwdriver however, I do have two wrenches. This is comparing to Eric's post above. Well I am going to compare to a dealer's M3 and see just exacly what they come with. My car goes on the 19th for the Inspection 1 service.

It is my understanding that the US cars do not come with the triangle. I have it in my roadster but I recently purchased it at HMS motorsport I think? And yes the roadsters tool box is very much different.

///M SPEED you're missing the tow hook (unless the m3 didn't have one). Honestly that's the only thing in my toolkit I'm worried about having, becuase I don't want a tow company pulling the car up onto a flat bed with the tie rods or something.

Big daddy is correct, US spec versions didn't come with the warning triangle or first aid kit. I think the reason is the first aid kit includes stuff that would be a problem with the FDA, and the warning triangle is supposively dangerous according to dot standards or something, for the reason you might forget it and it will blow around on the roadway. That's just what I've read in the past though, not sure if it is entirely true.

Eric, read my post before the one I posted the picture in. All BMW's I have owned did not put the tow hook in with the kit even thought there is a slot of it there. They always place it in with the spare tire or with the M's the mobility kit where the spare goes. When I bought the M I thought I was missing it and the dealer gave me one. While I was checking the mobility kit I found it there. Now I have two tow hooks. I took it out (the one the dealer gave me, which I place in the tool kit), because like I stated they usually do not place them there.

Oh I didn't see that post [wiggle] I wonder why they put it where they did? The average owner probalby never even looks under there, let alone a tow truck driver. Those tow hooks are mighty strong though.

Scott, where's your screwdriver? You should have one.

Oh, and as a side note, the E36s that were built in the SC plant had their tow hooks placed in the toolbox.

And yes, those tow hooks are very strong - there are lots of heavy things you can pull with a Z3 tow hook. [paranoid]

Mine is missing. It is the only thing that is missing from my toolbox. It may be in the spare tire compartment, but I haven't really looked inside thoroughly. I need to some day.
