Blower motor went in my '87 325 E.
I almost fell over when I got a price quote for one.
Pulled the old one, closed fresh air doors, punched a hole in the motor cover, hooked up a blower motor from a 12 volt vacuum cleaner to pressurize HVAC box, fired up the blower, no air coming from vents in interior, checked all switch positions.
Anyone got any ideas why I'm not getting any air from a pressurized air box?[:(]
Any help appriciated.

Welcome to the board! My blower doesn't work either, but I just go fast and the hot air flows in on it's own... it's not cold enough here in Ontario for me to worry quite yet:)
There are a couple "BMW only" places out here in Mississauga where you can get a used blower, or a new resistor... If you're going to spend time to do the job, you might as well do it right.

Chuck's Auto (Rexdale) http://www.chucks-auto.com/ (Chuck)
And Bimmersport Automotive Mississauga (410/401 area of Mississauga) http://www.bimmersport.ca/ (Charlie)

Both very good options.

Welcome to bmwboard,
Did you diagnose that it was the fan that was the problem?
Maybe it was the fan switch the whole time which is why you arnt getting your home jobbie to work...
Try changing the switch, over where you live working 2nd hand parts are very common, eBay is a good place to start, buy a cheap one and see what happens, they really are so cheap!
Wish 2nd hand parts where as plentyful over here in Aussie, every part on my bimmer would be brand new/in fully working order, good luck!

The bearings in the motor were non existant when I pulled it.To the extent of the fan cages wearing on the inside of the housing. The hole I punched in the cover is only 1.25"diameter,easily covered. Is there a test for the resistor?Or is it "replace with known good unit"only? The fan only had 2 top speeds when it was working (loudly).Ill try the used parts guys in Mississauga for a fan motor. The heat is great on the hiway with the fresh air doors open but defogging in rainy city driving is a bit of a problem.Hand me that rag would you?
Many thanks for the input.

Seriously, Chuck's will be your best bet... I've got tonnes of used parts off of him... clusters, windows, jacks, tow hooks, MAF sensors, 1 engine, all sorts of stuff. Give him a call, I'm sure he'll have one.
