Check Brake Light

Hello all - The check brake light comes on whenever the car is started and is only cleared when the brake pedal is tapped. Does anyone know what may be causing this? Thanks in advance....

My E30 325e does that. I'm pretty sure its supposed to. When it flashes, it wants you to tap the brakes so that the "Check" computer can see if you've got a burnt out light. If you don't have a burt out light, the light goes off on it's own... if you have one burnt out, it'll stay on.

You should have your foot on the brake when you start the car anyways.

It is checking your brake petal switch. It assumes that you are pressing the brake while you start your car. Since it didn't get any output on the brake lights it assumes the the brake petal switch went bad (until you prove otherwise by hitting the brake)

Nah the system is kind of confusing sometimes.
