check engine light

My check engine light is comming on when i am idleing, but it will go off after i rev the engine above 1000 rpm. is there a way, with out take it to the bmw dealership to check what it means

well i figured out it means "oxygen sensor 1 contol range limit" do i need a new o2 sensor?
