Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone else has this same problem with their e39 5 or 6 speeds. I have a 01 540i6speed 12kmiles and in the mornings when I drive, I feel as I lift of my clutch on the upstorke, the clutch has a small pop (not audioable though, just a feel) at about midway on the stroke...once past this high friction point, a pop is felt on my foot and the rest of the stroke is fine. I have only noticed this during this winter. 1-2 pop is pronounced, 2-3 less, and 3-4 almost none. It goes away after 20 mins of driving or so. Dealer says its not covered under warranty and is likely a driver caused issue. They could not even tell me what is wrong, but said the clutch kit may need to be replaced. They were not even confident of that. Cost of a new clutch kit is $1300. I could live with this and hope it does not get worse.
Any thoughts what the heck is going on, or if there is a recall or fix that you guys know of.
Much appreciated!
