Tell me if I'm wrong.
I just put Mobile 1 syntetic oil in my 2001 530i and it is running totally different. It seems like engine has less trouble getting to higher RPM. Did anybody experience that too?
Also, I have this wierd feeling that at 2 and 3rd gear it feels like my clutch is "sliping", don't now if this is due to maybe clutch wearing off or the new oil? Any thoughts? It feels like engine is running higher at certain speeds that it should.

Hey Jack, the 530i is in my opinion one of the best if not the best BMWs ever built. Great car ! From previous experiences with double over head cam engines, Especialy the vanos models make sure the oil viscosity is'nt over 10/40 year round . BMW actualy reccomends 5/30 full synthetic Castrol. They have had weird instances on initial starts of the engine being sluggish. Thicker oil cant penetrate the openings of the hydrualic lifters on the head resulting in lost compression and/or idle. Depending on the mileage the clutch could be slipping. BMW came out with a clutch/pressure plate setup that utilizes an adjuster sleeve that constantly keeps the clutch pedal travel the same through the life of the clutch. Have a qualified tech inspect the problem.
