hey there, im new to the bmw world. I may be picking up a used Z3 this spring. Would you reccomend getting a 1.9l and turbocharging the vehicle with an aftermarket system or just get the M model? How do people with the non-M Z3s like the cars?

I had a 97 2.8 and loved the car, plenty of power, good ride and handling. I now own an M model and love it. Lots of torque and power, I have Dinan suspension and she handles superbly. I would recommend the M before I would get a 1.9 and turbocharging it.

you might want to check with your insurance co about the difference between the rates, could be significant? i'd say go with the M first all other things being equal, but they aren't. they are totally different cars, not just engines. the M comes with better brakes, wheels and tires, different body, front and rear facia, interior trim, sound and rollover protection to name a few. with all the upgraded M equipment comes slightly upgraded maint/operating cost, but also more aftermarket availability.

hey guys,

my business is moving into our new offices/warehouse at the end of april. I have been on the lookout for a damaged Z3 to repair. If I pick one up I will be sure to start developing parts for the car. I am working on a product line for the Mazdaspeed protege right now(im now in a position where i can keep the mazda and hopefully grab the Z3 before summer hits) that I am hoping to have out by the end of April. I know its no beemer, but here is a link to my cardomain if any of you guys are interested:

I am hoping to set a record for the most power using the facotry internals and stock T25R turbo. I will be running 15psi, 94 octane pump gas + pure methenol.

If the beemer works out I will more than likely start off with some basic intake/exhuast components and maybe look into some basic forced induction kits.

TTYL, Jeff

well I started moving into my new place sooner than expected, so it looks like we are going to be opening earlier than expected, meaning I hope to have the Z3 sooner so I can start designing some parts. Ill let you guys know how it goes.
