Hi all, can anuone give any advice please on an erratic "coolant" message on the overhead display of my daughters 1991 325i. It sometimes goes for days without appearing and then it'll come on for a day or two and repeat that cycle. I have checked the connections on the sensor and they appear to be clean, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Paul.

Probably just needs topped off. The coolant level sensor is like the low washer fluid and low oil level sensors - only need to be tripped for a split second, and they'll stay on till you restart the car. I have a feeling that on colder days it probably comes on more than on warm days?

Thanks for that , and thinking about it the weather has been a bit colder as of late. I thought the level was good but maybe a bit more wouldn't harm it if they're that sensitive. Certainly worth a try , thanks again.
