Differential Gears

looking for diff gear ratio in the 4.88:1 neighborhood, does anybody know where this could be acquired?

The diff gears I am looking for (4.88:1) would fit a 1989 M3.

that is one incredibly low gear ratio, are you looking to drag race the thing? the highest ive seen people put in an E30 is 4:10, i wouldns go any lower than that if it is for every day use, especially if you drive on the highway alot.

Not drag racing...

Short tracks, like Gingerman in MI. Car is not for street.

Where can I find 4.88:1 axle ratio?

you would probly have to get one specialy made or aftermarket... I'm pretty sure no bimmer came stock with that gear ratio diff.

535i 7/90-> Automatic had a 4.27 from the factory....

Get a dogleg (close ratio) gearbox first.
