Ok guys, I do not know under what category to put it under so I will place it on both the E46 and M5 Boards.

Here is the dilemma. I currently have a 1994 318I Jet Black which is my baby. I am in the process of buying a new BMW. Now my dream car is the M5 and I actually have the means to get it (2000-2003). But for practicality's sake, as in insurance and worrying about parking and people f*cking with it, I am leaning towards buying a 2004 330Ci with the works.

Should i give up on my dream and go with the "safe" 330CI or just go for the M5.

Speaking of the M5, does anybody know what I should look for in terms of mileage for 2000-2003 M5s and the costs that would correlate with it. For exampe, I saw a 2000 M5 with the works with 30K selling for $62K.

Hope I can hear some good advice from you guys/girls.

It is called a "dream car," we have these cars to essentially not get them. My dream car is a Porsche 911 Turbo 6spd Mid-night blue with black interior, Speed Yellow with black interior. One of those two combos. I mean, once you get your dream car, what else is there to do? Personally, i probably won't get my Porsche and just go straight for the Ferrari once i'm 40. Mid-life crisis my...yeah.

On Second thought: Get the M5, you deserve it! 30k for $62k...hmmm..and 2000..sounds kinda of steep to me. Try getting a 2003 or a 2002 model.

I agree, that's way too steep. You should be paying at around $50-55k. Remember most M owners put very little miles on their car so you should be able to find plenty of other low mileage deals. If it's your dream car and you can afford it, I say go for it. Just remember to park really really far out in the parking lot to avoid door dings. [:)]

it IS my dream car, which is why I feel I should get it while I have the means to do it cuz i dont know if I'll ever have the opportunity again. Once I get this dream car, I dont think Id need another one :)

I think I am leaning for the M5 tho. So a 2000 with 30K should approx go for 50K?

You only live once! If you have the means to do it and are planning on spending a comparable amount on a newer 3 series, I don't think there is much of a dilemma...

I don't have the means, but I am trying:)
