Door lock and interior light problems

I recently purchased a 97 Z3 that needed some serious TLC. After new paint, tires, sound system, etc I thought I was finally finished bringing it back to life. Now whenever I open the door the interior light is off, but as soon as I shut the door it comes on. Also the door locks have been acting funny. When I use the driver side door the trunk and passenger side door will unlock and lock just fine, but the locks don't work when I try it from the trunk or the passenger side. What's happening?

my locks act up like that a little after i wash the car, might be time to lube em up? my old probe gt did the same, i squirted oil onto the whole mechanism from the window slot. cured it for the rest of the years i had it.
