Greetings everyone. It's been almost a year since my last post on this board due to my military obligations and deployments. I've spent the last month or so hard at work on the project car and I think it's coming along faster than expected. With a little luck, the cosmetic portion of the project should be completed very shortly to include a full paint job.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts and comments

Remaining items on the cosmetic list:
  • Mount the AC Schnitzer rear wing
  • Extend the fender flares a bit
  • Fabrication of the two rear side bumper moldings
  • Paint

Liking it - what are you thinking re: paint? At the mo, extending the black from the front and rear skirts to make it two-tone would look unique.

Alpinas pwn all!!!! I want them! What size are they? they look big like 18's?

Thank you all very much for the kind words. I've been working on this project for a long time (it's also my fourth e30...I refuse to buy anything else).

Re: repaint - I was going to have the entire car repainted with Cinnabar red, with black trim. I've got a couple small items that I'm working on finishing with carbon fiber (kidneys, b-pillar trim, and 'is' rear wing). I haven't entirely decided yet, but I may decide to have the Alpinas (17.7.5s to answer another question) powder coated in a gloss black. I'm also working on an idea for the carbon fiber hood that will be extremely unique (but I promise not ricey).

The interior still has a lot left to be done. The Alcantara is enroute and I'll be reupholstering some interior euro door and rear seat panels (along with the back seat) with red and black alcantara. The center consoles and driver's knee bolster and glove box will also be receiving red alcantara covering.

If anyone is curious to see the process I've been going through, they are welcome to check out my personal site: www.jason-steele.com Under the "BMW e30 Project" link, there's a list of all of the modifications done to the car so far, also with the list of in-pro and future mods. The process is fully documented under the "Blog" section.

deutsch100 - I LOVE that color on your M3. Next to Laguna Seca Blue, that is my favorite factory color!

I don't know if I'd like black Alpinas. But feel welcome to try it of course - as long as you can go back to standard if it doesn't work out - Alpinas are too nice and too hard to get to be ruined.

MHO anyway.

Good luck with the rest of the mods - would love to see pics of that interior when it is done.

The wheels are not real Alpinas. There is a company here in the US that sells them as Alpina 'Kopis', but in reality, they are BK Racing wheels. Model # BK171. I've tried to contact the manufacturer directly about getting another set, but they have yet to respond.

I wouldn't dare ruin a set of real Alpina rims. I'm in the process of getting some real ones, and I will not change the color of the real ones. At least with these, If I don't like them, I'll have them taken back to silver. I'm hoping they'll turn out well. I'm going to have them silver for a while though. If I have them done black before I do the repaint, the bottom half of the car will have way too much black and will look odd.

Looks great. The pre-facelift taillights with the plastic bumpers gives it a unique (and bling) look. Also, I would stick with the small iS lip spoiler rather than put another wing on the back. It looks great as it is, and I find too many E30's are ruined with gaudy wings. Either way, great car.
