just a couple of questions. i have a 1990 BMW 525i. however, the guy i bought it off told me it had a 3.5 engine in it. i dont know what is true and what isnt. is there any way to identify the 2.5, 3.0 & 3.5 litre engines from one another and if so how?
the second question is which E34 models came equipped with Limited Slip Differentials and is it possible to fit the rear axle of any of these LSD equipped vehicles to my 525 and if so are there any modifications required such as different mounting points/different propshafts etc?

any advice would be much appreciated

Basically, this is how to identify your cars and their engines

ex: 525i

the first 5 represents the series... 5 series obviously..
the next set of numbers represents the engine size... 25 = 2.5 liter
and the "i" mean injection.. as in fuel injection

My e39 540 auto feels as quick as hell, but I will admit that sometimes it just lacks that level of involvement - but when stuck in heavy town traffic, the auto soon makes amends. It certainly takes off quicker than the E34 535 manual, that I owned before it.

Sorry it's off topic - but it was heading in that direction anyway [burnout]
