Help, Please......
I have a 1991 318is(e30). The car runs fine on the first start(always), but when it gets hot, and i shut down and start it again the engine hiccups for maybe 30 secs, only with gas pedel depressed and check engine light comes on then goes out, after that 30-60sec it drives perfect???? This happens everytime, I can predict it like clockwork!!!. The engine code i am getting is 1222 (Lambda control 1). This is the explination i got for it:
"This code is stored when the DME detects excessive
deviations in the air-fuel mixture (too rich or too lean) for longer
than 10 seconds. Possible causes: Fuel tank ran empty,
Incorrect Fuel Pressure, Injector valve defective or coked,
Engine Temperature Sensor defective, Secondary air leak,
Fuel evaporation control system defective, Air Flow Meter
defective and/or the combustion is being disturbed by
mechanical failure (Spark plugs,, compression,
intake/exhaust valves, ...etc.)"
It does not really narrow it down at all. Has anybody run across this before?
Please help I don't know where to start?
Thanks for your time, and hopefully simple Cure/explination!!
