Electric Seats

I have just purchased a 1984 318i..my first BMW. I'm very happy with it and excited at the same time. There are many things to learn and fix.

The previous owner installed some electric seats, and I don't believe they came stock with the car. The passenger side seat does not work anymore, though it was working when I first bought the car a few days ago. Anyhow, I'm not sure where to start with troubleshooting these seats. To further complicate things, my Hayes manual has no info about them since they are not standard..(that's my guess anyhow).

Anyone have some suggestions? [rolleyes]

They are probably e34 or e36 seats. If it is just one seat faulting I would pull the switch out and make sure you have power to the switch. If yo do, check the switch operation. If it's OK, then you can at least cross that off your list and start hunting elsewhere.

Fuses would probly be the next place id look, im kinda sure that if it was a pro job they would fill the empty fuse holes in the stock fuse box, if not, go looking, im sure they would have a left and right fuse for both seats.
Good luck, and let me know how it goes.
